The Palmyra Fire Department Fire Line
September 20 - At 1:30 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a sick person at a residence on County Road 308 in Taylor. Assistance was not required; firefighters returned to the station at 1:59 p.m.
September 20 - At 1:48 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a patient who had fallen at a residence on County Road 426. Firefighters assisted ambulance personnel and returned to the station at 2:09 p.m.
September 20 - At 5:20 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a vehicle fire on US-24 in West Quincy. Firefighters extinguished the fire and returned to the station at 6:33 p.m.
September 20 - At 5:48 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a two vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Highway 6 near the 18 Wheeler. Firefighters inspected both vehicles for hazards and assisted ambulance personnel, returning to the station at 6:21 p.m.
September 21 - At 5:05 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of an unresponsive patient at a residence on South Lane. Firefighters assisted ambulance personnel and returned to the station at 5:25 p.m.
September 21 - At 5:22 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a patient that was not alert at Maple Lawn. As an ambulance was responding from Hannibal, firefighters conducted an initial assessment of the patient and once the ambulance arrived, assisted in preparing the patient for transport. Firefighters returned to the station at 5:39 p.m.
September 21 - At 6:00 p.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a single vehicle accident on US-24 in West Quincy. Firefighters inspected the vehicle for hazards and assisted ambulance personnel, returning to the station at 6:46 p.m.
September 22 - At 2:50 a.m., 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a possible structure fire at a residence on County Road 333 north of Palmyra. Upon arrival, the residents had extinguished a fire; using a thermal camera, firefighters inspected the residence to ensure there were no hidden fires and using portable equipment, ejected smoke from the home. Firefighters returned to the station at 4:42 a.m.
September 26 - At 11:10 a.m., As an ambulance was responding from Hannibal, 911 dispatched firefighters to a report of a patient with difficulty breathing at Maple Lawn. Firefighters assisted ambulance personnel and returned to the station at 11:40 a.m.
This week's Fire Line Tip
The fire at the residence on County Road 333 this week could have been much worse had the homeowners not taken the time to install smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in their home. Time and again it has been proven that smoke detectors save lives!
